AWEE awarded $804k through 2 grants

AWEE has just been awarded two grants, totaling $804,000! This is great news, as it supports the start of two new prisoner reentry programs. The Phoenix Business Journal did a great writeup of the programs.

We'll keep you updated as the program launches and we have successes to share!

AWEE CEO garners prestigious Public Service Leader of the Year award

From an article in the Phoenix Business Journal:

"YWCA Maricopa County will recognize nine Valley women for extraordinary achievement at the organization’s 16th annual “Tribute to Women” Awards on Feb. 19 at the Arizona Biltmore.

"The honorees were chosen for their commitment to empowering women and girls through service, leadership and advocacy, according to a YWCA release."

AWEE President and CEO Marie Sullivan was one of nine awardees, gaining top recognition in the Public Service category. A recent YWCA newsletter had this to say about Marie's accomplishments:

"Ms. Sullivan has served as the President and CEO of AWEE for the past 11 years. During her tenure, she has expanded the staff, increased the budget 700 percent, and launched several new programs serving over 6,000 women and their families."
